Parmly (now First) Baptist Church, Jersey City, NJ

July 17, 2014

Through a merging of congregations, Parmly became First Baptist in Jersey City. Built in 1909, it continues to serve from a generous, well-maintained site at the corner of Fairmount and JFK. An inspection from google.earth (sorry, I don’t know how to do a screen capture on my Mac) shows the octagonal sanctuary hinted in this postcard view, as well as a T-configured wing for religious education. Bet you a bagel that there is/was a substantial movable partition between them.

I don’t know the architect yet, but the northern New Jersey metropolitan area is rich in both A-A examples and architects qualified to produce them.
