Typologies take on lives of their own, it seems. Gather a sufficiently large pool of examples and affinities leap from the group, like these two churches in Pennsylvania and Iowa, blissfully unaware of each other.

The polygonal Sunday School (with its gabled clerestory) plugs into a gabled sanctuary (at right angles in each of these examples), then a tower or two nestle in the reëntrant angles. These are either A-, B-, or C- types (can’t tell without a glimpse inside) with a “1” Sunday School (the obvious part).

Oh, by the way, here’s another, in Derry, PA. See what I mean?
