Presbyterian Church, Carrington, ND

Lest you think that North Dakota was immune to the Akron-Auditorium plan, consider the Presbyterian church (which may now be closed) in Carrington. At the corner of Second Street and Eighth Avenue, its splayed Sunday School extends what would under normal circumstances be the nave. I do have a postcard view of the church and think that it may have been built circa 1910. The architect was L. B. Valk, who began his career in Brooklyn, NY and eventually migrated to Los Angeles.

Other North Dakota A-A churches make a short list: Methodist Episcopal (now UMC) in Fargo [Warren H. Hayes, architect] and the former Presbyterian church in Grand Forks [adapted after the flood as a science center) [Joseph Bell DeRemer, architect]. If there are others, let me know.
