Congregational Church, Williston, ND

This one strikes close to home.

In Bedford Park, Illinois, our neighbor was a school teacher and widow named Cora Scheibe. Her husband (who I never know or don’t recall because I was so young) was Rev Durbin Scheibe, a Congregational minister. At some point much earlier in Rev Scheibe’s career he had been stationed at the Congregational church in Williston, ND—probably some time in the 1940s. So when I got to Williston for the first and only time in 1976, I made certain to drive by. Of course, at that time I wasn’t so focused on the Akron-Auditorium. Suffice to say, this has all the earmarks of an A-A building.
