Methodist Episcopal Church, Hubbard, TX

December 24, 2015

Dallas architect James Edward Flanders produced a major body of work which remains essentially under-explored, except for a website developed by his great-grandson. Flanders’ designs for Protestant churches—the majority of them Methodist—constitute a significant proportion of that work. Any architect can tell you that projects beget other projects; one church building committee visits the recent dedication of a nearby church and consult with their counterparts, and the dominos begin to fall.

Hubbard’s church appears to be in mint condition, despite its 105-year age.
