Methodist Episcopal Church, Snyder, TX

February 4, 2016

Snyder is better known to me as the site of a Santa Fe railway depot by Kansas City architect Louis Singleton Curtiss. So I was surprised to find this card of what seems to be an A-A church. The corner entry and book-matched facades (at this scale) was characteristic of Dallas architect J. E. Flanders. So I checked the Flanders website and may have found Snyder’s cousin, if not actual twin, at Pilot Point, Texas.

Do you think? Both of them are knock-offs of larger, more sophisticated works like this Flanders design of First Christian church in Fulton, Missouri.
