Madison, Georgia’s M.E. church materialized during a search of flickr.com, where I have an Akron-Auditorium group, though I don’t own this postcard. Google.maps gives a much clearer view of the Sunday School wing, just barely shown here at the left and behind the sanctuary. The church website gives 1914 as the date of construction and even uses “Akron” to describe their handsome, well-maintained building, though no architect is given. A-A examples aren’t necessarily rare in the South, but they aren’t well represented in postcard offerings on eBay.

Postcard publishers often worked from negatives sent to them from distant locations and worked without knowledge of the building’s actual materials and colors. So it isn’t surprising that the deep ochre brick was rendered grey.
