St John’s Evangelical Church, Kenton, OH

March 21, 2016

Currently, Kenton interests me for two other church: an iconic Methodist church by Cincinnati architects Crapsey & Brown, and a former Episcopal church from the 1890s which defies further identification. Meanwhile, google.maps reveals this wonderful building no more than two blocks from the others and it proves to be in magnificent condition.

The wing protruding forward from the sanctuary doesn’t seem wide enough for a standard Akron Sunday School. And the house barely showing on the right is gone and replaced with a modern S.S. addition, which may mean the older space has been renovated out of existence. An email to the current church may produce an answer.
