Methodist Episcopal Church, Holyoke, CO

Architectural styles are like most of us: mongrel. On my father’s side alone, I have roots in the British Isles, Germany, and Poland; Marge’s ancestors may be even more diverse. And so it is with styles of architecture: How would you label the hybrid style of the Methodist church at Phelan Avenue and Furry Street in Holyoke, Colorado. There are hints of the Spanish Colonial (despite the lack of stucco surfacing) but also of the Arts & Crafts (in the brick, the splayed buttresses in the entries, and those delightful corner treatments).
