United Methodist Church, Kansas, IL

June 29, 2016

Verifying one church in the central Illinois town of Kansas brought me to another A-A church not in my postcard collection.

Here is a screen shot of the United Methodist church in Kansas, handsomely maintained at the corner of Brown and Buena Vista streets. The polygonal elements at the right front and left rear are clear evidence that this was once (and may yet be) an Akron-Auditorium plan. And the simplified Romanesque style puts it in the early years of the 20th century, I’m guessing.

The Presbyterian church (blogged earlier) is a block and a half to the northeast.
