First Christian Church, Burlington, KS

July 5, 2016

Burlington’s Disciples of Christ have relocated to a recent building at the far northwest edge of the city. No obvious trace of this building remains—at least as far as I can tell from google.maps. This building’s style suggests the 1920s, which may be too late for any A-A influence.

UPDATE: A friend of the project (and someone with far better vision than I) writes to say that the building shown here still stands at the northwest corner of 6th and Neosho. I have a tendency to scan only residential neighborhoods. Frankly, the church still looks pretty good, though it is also hemmed in by light industry: there’s a lumber yard close by on the west and a gravel parking lot on the north.

The church’s east elevation has the characteristic secondary entry at what might be the junction of auditorium and Sunday School, though there’s no guarantee of anything movable between them. An email to the original congregation seems in order.

It still stands, at the northwest corner of Neosho Street and 6th Street, though apparently not in use.
