Methodist Episcopal Church, St Cloud, MN

July 13, 2016

St Cloud is within commuting distance of the Twin Cities and home to a large campus of the State University system. It is served by two current Methodist congregations, both suburban, which suggests this building is gone. The A-B-b-a scheme is unusual and the two-tone masonry offers a bit more contrast than I prefer. Architect and construction data not yet located.

NB: Before construction of Interstate 94 in the 1970, a principal U.S. highway ran through St Cloud. It’s route, as with other units of the Interstate Highway System, required demolition of many significant historic structures in inner city areas. That may account for the disappearance of this building.
