845 North Central Avenue, Chicago, IL

July 14, 2016

It’s no surprise that the internet is a playground—a not entirely wholesome place to play, but rewarding nonetheless. A favorite site, because I am from Chicago, is Chicago Architecture Data, a searchable database for hundreds of Chicago building, categorized by neighborhood, architect, building name and type, and address. Though the “Religious” category is thinly populated—mostly with liturgical, longitudinal buildings—a candidate for A-A status did show up in a neighborhood search. I give you 854 North Central Avenue on the city’s west side (not far from Oak Park, Frank Lloyd Wright country):

845 N Central

Identified on the website only by its neighborhood and address, the occupants since 1976 are Christ Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church of Austin. It’s unspecified whether the multi-story building at the right rear is part of their facility.
