First Baptist Church, Watertown, NY

July 19, 2016

First Baptist Church in upstate Watertown, New York, holds a special place in this study, as well as the nearly parallel Agincourt Project — but that’s another story for another time.

This impressive Richardsonian building is the second on the site at the end of Watertown’s Public Square. Architect Charles H. Smith (of NYC) took advantage of the soling site by tucking two commercial store fronts on the “busy” side. The main entry is at the corner; the second (farther to the right) has been closed, as have the storefronts.

Do any visitors here know of other “mixed use” religious buildings, with both sacred and secular space.
