Each day I survey recent additions to the eBay auction site; I call each day’s new hits “the overnights.” Search terms are much easier now that the site has a far more sophisticated categorization system. The weakest link in the chain is most often the seller: I can’t tell you how many times I’ve encountered postcards of Babtis churches. Chances are they were lifetime Babtises themselves.

This evening I found six more buildings for the database:

  • M.E. church in Monrovia, CA
  • M.E. church in Oroville, CA
  • M.E. church in Bourbon, IN
  • Baptist church in Cedar Falls, IA
  • M.E. church in Glidden, IA
  • Presbyterian church in Grundy Center, IA

They vary considerably in style but probably not very much at all in date. From my perspective, however, there were characteristics in each — the composition of massing; the rhythm of entries; composition of facade; or similarity with a building already in the database — that encouraged me to add them and begin the process of determining their history and status.
