Methodist Episcopal Church, Paris, KY

July 24, 2016

The corner entry tower here is situated between two arms of an essentially Greek Cross plan. What you can’t detect is the extension of one arm toward a Sunday School wing. Along the Seventh Street elevation (not shown here) it’s a typical A-B-a-b scheme, though that doesn’t resolve the pulpit location. At any rate, it is a handsome  building of random ashlar limestone.

The cornerstone says 1897.

PS: Having jumped the gun once again, here is an additional and somewhat more recent view showing the Seventh Street elevation. Loss of the “witch’s hat” roof on the tower removes the only element of the building’s sense of humor.
