Asbury Methodist Episcopal Church, Watertown, NY

August 15, 2016

Watertown possesses three excellent examples of the A-A. I don’t know how I’ve avoided writing about Asbury UMC for so long.

This is another Brown & Davis (Crapsey & Brown; Brown Burton & Davis) church, of the sort that are nearly scattered from coast to coast. This example was built in phases from 1907 until about 1914—the Sunday School first, and then the Auditorium. B&D churches are easily recognized by their “lantern” centered about the sanctuary. This example seems in magnificent condition.

This aerial view and the google.maps image will explain its organization far better than my words can do.
