Congregational Church, Hood River, OR

Initially, I was convinced this card had been misidentified: School, courthouse, city hall, yes. But church? Hardly. Yet if anything has been made clear to me by this project it is that one of the most frequent objections to Akron-Auditorium churches is that they look too secular; too much like a school, courthouse, or city hall. So — admitting my own blinkered perspective and with no presumption that an A-A church actually lurks behind those formidable stone walls — I give you the former Congregational Church in Hood River, OR.

Happily (and resolutely) standing at 317 State Street, it is now Riverside Community Church (UCC) and sports two additions, one to the right side and the other behind. Regardless of whether this church belongs here, I am fascinated.
