Presbyterian Church, Wolcott, NY

August 18, 2016

There is very little that is titillating in this postcard view of a Presbyterian church in Upstate New York. Wolcott is about fifty miles east of Rochester and closer than ten miles to the shore of Lake Ontario. But this Wikimedia photograph by Doug Kerr is far more intriguing—both for its A-A potential and the style of the building itself. It isn’t often that I come upon a church with Queen Anne characteristics.

Notice that the entry vestibule takes you to the base of the tower, about one third of the building’s length. I wonder if that access point isn’t in fact on the fault line between Sunday School (in the front) and the auditorium (away from traffic noise).
