Methodist Episcopal Church, South Bellaire, OH

August 23, 2016

At the corner of Belmont and West 23rd Streets [diagonally across the intersection from Gumby’s Cigarette & Beer world!], South Bellaire boasted two Methodist churches, on opposite corners of the same block. Only this one survives.

On many postcards, the word “south” is ambiguous: in M.E. Church South Bellaire, OH, it could relate to the town or the congregation, in communities where Southern Methodism was present. This is a very characteristic A-B-a-b type.
