First Presbyterian Church, Brookhaven, MS

September 6, 2016

Brookhaven’s Presbyterian church is shaped so logically for a diagonal plan that I’ll be surprised if there isn’t one behind these mirrored facades. Hoping that the telltale Akron “bustle” might be lurking around one of tis corners, I look at google.maps and was disappointed to find no trace of one or that one might have been removed. Their Sunday School is a later detached building, probably dating from the post-Akron period. I post it here, however, as a remarkable example of the “auditorium” component.

I have been inside this building. Yes, it has concentric curved seating on a diagonal axis.
