Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church, Atlanta, GA

October 16, 2016

Trinity M.E., located at Trinity Avenue and Washington Street in central Atlanta, was the parent congregation for at least four other Methodist churches. Its current building was constructed in 1911-1912 by architect Walter T. Downing but the building is a traditional longitudinal rectangle with no connecting Sunday School. Behind the altar, however, and physically linked with the church proper is (or was) and Akron Sunday School, which could have been built at a different time, so additional research is required. Until then, I’m calling this an F-!.

This interior of the S.S. suggests it may no longer be used that way and, instead, serves as a social hall. The separate S.S. meeting areas can still be seen on the balcony.
