Methodist Episcopal Church, Oakland, IA

December 23, 2016

This Methodist church in Oakland sports at least three stepped gables, More commonly called Dutch. The Collegiate West End church on the Upper West Side of New York City (by McKim Mead & White) is a more elaborate example and may have been influential through publication in the American Architect & Building News. Aside from that, however, the corner entry and book-matched street elevations suggest an A-A interior.
