Third Presbyterian Church, Chester, PA

December 28, 2016

Isaac Pursell was well positioned in Philadelphia to have a significant impact on the design of early 20th century Presbyterian churches. He had a particular fondness for octagonal peaked roofs, such as this trio in Easton and Chester, Pennsylvania and Wilmington, Delaware.

Variations on a theme but each with its own personality and adapted to local budgets.

Easton and Wilmington have been entered here before. Chester still stands at East Ninth and Potter but is now serving another congregation.
