St James Methodist Church, Montréal, Quebec

This is what I saw about fifteen years ago on a trip to Montréal: St James United Church, hidden behind a commercial with only sufficient space allotted for an entrance. The interior was impressive but I was also bale to see the Sunday School, unconnected to the auditorium but definitely an Akron type. The architect in 1888-1889 was Alexander Dunlop.

A recent search for more images yielded a pleasant surprise: St James is undergoing a massive renovation project, both interior and exterior. Witness the new entry plaza:

Some further searching ultimately turned up diagrams showing the location and form of the Akron Sunday School, situated at the rear of the building and looking from the outside very much like a French Gothic ambulatory:
