Christian Church, Selma, AL

April 2, 2017

Selma’s Christian church (at the corner of Franklin Street and Selma Avenue) is now identified as either Selma Community church or the Blue Jean Church and appears to be in mint condition. Its architect is very likely to have been George W. Kramer, who was involved in designing the original Akron Sunday school and built a nationwide reputation on his connection with it.

What doesn’t show here is the Sunday school, a quarter circle of clerestoried space on the west side of the auditorium, making this a very well preserved D-2.
