Congregational Church, Cambridge, NE

April 19, 2017

Someone — was it Mark Twain? — said that the Republican River was both crooked and shallow. Cambridge, Nebraska is situated along its course, about half way across the state. But don’t bother stopping to see this fine example of the A-A. It’s gone and replaced with something quite interesting in its own right.

Do you suppose the architect might have seen Robert Venturi’s house for his mother? I like it.

  1. That new building could be the cover photo for a blog called “Building the Gospel Warehouse.” Truly this is representative of the new architectural era of sacred architecture which might variously be termed Nadirissance, Banaloque or maybe Mies-take.
