Playing Catch-up: Three in Missouri

June 7, 2017

Of these three Missouri examples, I’m fondest of the Christian church in Lancaster. Still standing and not quite symmetrical, it might be mistaken for a school. The more traditional building at South Salisbury is likewise still a prominent building on the town’s main street, though it has lost its dome and on closer inspection neither of the single-story appendages appear to have been intended for religious education.

The Methodist church in Buckner is a familiar Classical Revival rectangle, whose Sunday school volume is hidden in this view by the house in the foreground.
