Congregational Church, Lawrence, MA

June 13, 2017

The postcard view of Lawrence Street Congregational Church in Lawrence, Massachusetts gives the masonry a flat washed-out character, considerably less interesting than current photographs of the building. It is now identified as the “Church of God–Hispanic” on google.maps. Though the plan appears to be a simple and linear, the bulging radial element on the left (which shows better in the postcard) hints at a C-1 or C-2 type, depending on the size and complexity of the Sunday school.

The previous building was destroyed by fire and replaced with this design in 1915. George G. Adams [1850-1932] was the architect.
