Baptist Church, Ashland, OR

June 28, 2017

You’ll find Ashland’s former Baptist church at the corner of First and Hargadine streets, adaptively used as the Oregon Cabaret Theatre. The balcony and Sunday school space (out of sight in this two postcard views on the far right) make for ideal theater viewing. All things considered, I’d rather have this than a parking lot.

The architect in 1911 was an obscure Seattle practitioner, Alpheus Dudley, whose only other documented work is another church. From the aerial view and theater site interiors, I’d call this one an A-1.
