Evangelical Church, Oshkosh, WI

July 11, 2017

The former First Evangelical church in Oshkosh, Wisconsin was auctioned last year and has an uncertain future. Its 1925 construction date speaks against an Akron component; the method of religious instruction had been replaced with a new paradigm in the early 20s. But the wedge plan and corner entry intrigued me.

The congregation’s former websites are not functioning, though google does provide small reference images such as this interior and plan. You can see what I mean about architectural adaptability: three of the auditorium’s four sides have adjacent spaces that can be linked with it in limited ways, so technically this isn’t an A-A plan. It’s interesting nonetheless and deserves a listing for creativity, at least.
