St Paul’s Methodist Episcopal Church, Ottawa, ON

August 18, 2017

Sidney Rose Badgley, an architect associated with Cleveland, Ohio, was actually born in Ontario in 1850 and his body was returned there for burial in 1917. During his productive years, however, he designed dozens of church and claims to have been the first to incorporate “institutional” features that expanded the church’s role in the community.

St Paul’s Methodist Episcopal (probably now a United church congregation) was built about 1888, before Badgley’s relocation to Cleveland, where he took draughtsman William Nicklas into partnership. Badgley & Nicklas play a large role in our database.
