Baptist Church, New Bethlehem, PA

August 19, 2017

Google street view has bypassed New Bethlehem, by and large, but the view from the air is intriguing: what seems to be an orthodox gable roof from this vantage point resolves into a polygonal lozenge at the far (north) end. Whether that connotes a radial Sunday school has yet to be proved. The FBC website says offers little history but does give the construction date as 1910.

I have a tendency to like downtown churches participating fully in the cultural and economic life of the community. “Flight” to the suburbs would be a difficult choice for me to make; happily that’s unlikely to be required. The street view complete presence among the storefront buildings around it.
