Methodist Episcopal Church, Spirit Lake, IA

Though the proportions are wrong and the building lacks ornamentation, the M. E. church in Spirit Lake reminds me of the Louis Sullivan bank in Algona, about fifty miles southeast.

Just a little more snazzy brickwork and a piece of Sullivanesque terra cotta (which was commercially available) and this might be an LHS knock-off.

The church was built in 1914, dedicated in 1918, and demolished by 1977.

UPDATE [10Jan2018]: Another Iowa church, a presumably former Baptist facility in Sheffield, has/had the same recessed entry as here at Spirit Lake and the analogous LHS bank in Algona:
