St Paul’s M.E. Church, Nyack, NY

January 12, 2018

Another of Richard Kenyon’s “Reports from the Field” has revealed a church not yet in the database: St Paul’s UMC in Nyack, New York. Architects for this and, apparently, several other Nyack buildings were Marshall and Henry Emery. This building — whose interior is still uninspected for A-A characteristics — was built in stages. The postcard above shows numbers 1 and 2, whereas the cabinet photo shown below illustrates Phase One (1894) , which is on the far right of the postcard view. Richard’s images of the two non-street elevations are brick masonry and display a window pattern that is encouraging.

An exemplary Richardsonian Romanesque example.
